Francesco Mattina serves as President of the Community Plant Variety Office since 1 February 2022. Previously he served as Vice-President and Head of the Legal Unit at CPVO.
Educated as a lawyer with a degree in law from the University of Parma, Italy, I hold specialisations in European Union Law, from the European College of Parma, Italy, and in Intellectual Property Law, from the University of Alicante, Spain.
I joined the CPVO in 2013 after a first experience in the EU public sector as a senior legal advisor in industrial property at the European Union Intellectual Property Agency (EUIPO).
Before joining the EU public sector, I served as lawyer and partner specialized in Intellectual property rights in several national and international law firms based in Italy.
Italian mother tongue. Fluent in English, Spanish and French and with solid notions of German.
